Never played tennis before — or picking it back up after years away? Bangkok is a surprisingly good city to start. Courts are plentiful, the community is welcoming, and if you pick the right time of day, the weather cooperates.
When to Play
Early mornings (6–8 am) and evenings (5–8 pm) are ideal in Bangkok. Midday heat and humidity are real — avoid them until you are acclimatised.
Where to Play
Public courts at Lumphini Park and Benjakitti Park are free to book. Many condominiums have their own courts. Private clubs offer coaching programs, ball machines, and a steady pool of members to play with. For group play at your level, browse sessions on love.tennis — many sessions welcome beginners explicitly.
What to Bring
Light, breathable sportswear. A racket (most venues rent them for 50–100 THB). Water — bring more than you think you need. Sunscreen for any daytime play.
Basic Court Etiquette
Arrive 10 minutes early. Warm up with your partner before starting competitive points. Call lines clearly and generously — when in doubt, the ball was in. Stay for a brief chat after; Bangkok tennis culture is social.
